Orthosis
Orthotic devices are often recommended to help align and support joints in the skeletal system, aiding in the prevention, correction, or accommodation of deformities while improving overall function. Orthotic braces, or orthoses, provide support to weakened body parts or joints. While many are worn temporarily after an injury or surgery, some are used to manage long-term or chronic conditions.
There are three common types of orthotics: soft, rigid, and semi-rigid. Soft orthotics offer extra cushioning for the foot when planted on the ground. Semi-rigid orthotics, commonly used for flat feet, provide both cushioning and stability.
